Hertford & District Churches
"Together"

Hertford & District Churches Together is committed to the preaching of God's Word, the proclamation of the good news of Jesus Christ, and the promotion of Christian unity in our area. We invite you to take a look at who we are and what we are all about through this web site.

CHRISTMAS ALONE 2008

Sele School - Christmas Day

A traditional lunch will be served followed by entertainment and tea. Transport will be laid on for those who need it.

Churches Together makes no charge but obviously needs all the help it can get from the community and all the churches to make this day a success. Financial help is needed and gifts of cakes, shortbread and mince pies are important. We need help with preparation, cooking and serving food, transport and entertainment.

Carol Singing & Christmas Blessing
The carol singing will be on Dec 22nd beside the Christmas Tree in Salisbury Square from 5.30 - 6.00 with members of the Town council and all the churches ( any choir members are invited to robe up ). There will be a brass ensemble to accompany us.
There may well be mince pies and mulled wine and this is for the sheer joy of Christmas so there will be no collection

Prayer
Some people find it difficult to pray.
Imagine prayer as a grand old chat with a very dear friend. You'd tell him or her all your bits of news, what's worrying you or what's happening in your life. You'd probably apologise for not keeping in better contact or for neglecting to do something they needed doing, or for losing your temper with them, or whatever.

Lovely simple prayers which can be repeated over and over again are little aspirations whispered throughout the day to help us keep the mind God-focussed, here are just a few:
"Lord, in Your Mercy hear my prayer"
"I give you my heart God, use it as You will"
"In You O Lord do I place my trust"
"My God, I love You"
"Lord I believe, help my unbelief!"

In our Villages, Towns & Cities.
All churches are encouraged to support the HOPE08 campaign.
‘Hope’ is intended to provide churches of all shapes and sizes throughout the UK with a fresh opportunity to work together across their communities over a twelve month period. It is as relevant for urban or rural churches irrespective of tradition.

In Hertford and the surrounding towns and villages our "hope" is that all our churches will work together to this aim and support the events being planned throughout the year.
More details can be found on the HOPE08 website.
